Hard to believe my favorite season is ending but it was a fun one! I saw some great music and had good times with friends and family, below are some of my favorite snaps (and videos) from the summer. Ready to take more pics this Fall!
First up! Twenty One Pilots back in early June
While I didn't snap the Emotional Roadshow, I had a great time. Twenty One Pilots have taken their live shows to new heights and it's never a dull moment. I brought my GoPro and took some video and pictures. I have the cheapest GoPro available so I was surprised with how great everything came out. Video below:
Also Mutemath who were touring with TOP made a dope remix of 'Stressed Out'
Next up was watching Florence + the Machine TWICE this summer <3 While I was pretty heartbroken I could photograph her, I was happy to watch her play shows before the album cycle ended. While I don't have any great pics or videos from seeing her in NY and Firefly, I'll just post a youtube video from her NY show I was at because dammit it was good:
Firrreeeffllllyyyyy! After having such a good time at ACL last year I caught the festival bug and wanted to try a different one this year. The great thing about Firefly is that it's about a 3 hour drive and we got a hotel that was kind of close to the fest so the commute wasn't too bad.
Brought my GoPro along for this one too ;)
Watched PUP in DC and I was happy, props to the girls who can handle themselves in those moshpits.
My best friend got engaged!!
In June, my best friend's girlfriend proposed to her and after a bunch of planning and plotting, it turned out to be a really special day. I was happy to take photos and capture some memories of the day <3
Family reunion in July! Two years ago, my family started doing reunions and while it can be a little stressful and takes a lot of organizing, it's cool to learn your family history and meet family members you only ever see in old pictures. We even connected with long lost family members through some crazy coincidences and it was a really special weekend. My aunt and my cousin work so hard to put these together and I'm grateful to have this family. I took photos because once your family finds out you can work a camera, you're kind of the default photographer at events lol
Snapped the badass that is Gwen Stefani this summer too
While I would have much prefered to shoot Gwen from the pit, soundboard was the rule. Her production was pretty dope too. I would've stayed for the whole show but I was exhausted from shooting Warped the day before so only caught a few songs. Someday I'll snap her up close!
Warped Toouuurrr - I was certain that I wouldn't get a photo pass to shoot Warped this year but some amazing luck happened and I found myself with a photo pass! It was my first time shooting so I was pretty excited and prepared myself for the long day. I did a couple posts on Warped in my blog so you can check them out to see more pics but below were some of my favorites
Took photos at the Smithsonian in Chinatown
Beautiful place to photo bands playing shows with plenty of angles to work with. Happy to be apart of the DCMD team to cover one of their LUCE: Unplugged shows and more to come!
Baltimore Soundstage was nice enough to get me a pass to photo letlive. back in July and I took some onstage portraits. Jason is an absolute babe.
Last but not least Flume
I've always wanted to snap an EDM show so Flume's was my first. A different experience from shooting a rock show obviously and the crowd is a lot more drunk lol. The lights were great and I'll definitely snap some more EDM shows (Echostage would be perfect) in the future.
That's it for my summer favorites, thanks for taking a peek :)
